Chicken & Poultry DNA Sexing

Accurate sex determination for chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and more.

DNA sexing is the most reliable method for determining the sex of poultry, especially in breeds where visual sexing is difficult or unreliable at a young age. Silkies, in particular, are notoriously challenging to sex before maturity.

Our PCR-based DNA sexing test works with a simple blood sample collected from a toenail clipping. The test identifies sex-linked chromosomes (ZZ for males, ZW for females) with over 99% accuracy.

Species We Test

Chickens (all breeds including Silkies, heritage, and game birds), ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas, quail, pheasant, and chukar. If you have a species not listed, contact us — we likely can help.

Why DNA Sex Your Poultry?

Knowing the sex of your birds early helps you plan breeding pairs, manage flock composition, price and market birds appropriately, and reduce the cost of raising unwanted roosters. For breeders selling chicks, verified sexing adds trust and value for buyers.
